After the death of her father, Betty (Norma Moore) and her mother leave their rural home and move to Los Angeles. While working in the city, Betty falls in love with Don (Robert Vaughn), a man she believes is perfect. She soon discovers that he is a grifter. Meanwhile, her mother remarries, leaving Betty to navigate her situation alone.
